Report of Stroud District Council Matters to
North Nibley Parish Council 9 January 2012.
Core Strategy.
At the Council meeting of the 24 November council approved the next stage for the Core Strategy. After a long debate it was agreed that the additional 9350 houses would be sited as follows:
Stroud Valleys 300 – 800 homes, reduced from 600-1000, with up to 1600 jobs.
North east of Cam 200 – 500 homes, reduced from 750 – 1250, with up to 1500 jobs.
West of Stonehouse 1000 – 1500 homes, no change, with up to 3000 jobs.
Hunts Grove 500 – 750 homes, no change.
Aston Downs 100 – 200 homes, this is new, with intensification of employment.
Sharpness 200 – 250 homes, this is new, with intensification of employment.
In addition to the above other Towns and Parishes who have suggested that they wish to take further housing will be asked to indentify sites and numbers.
Further public consultation will now be carried out during 6th February 2012 to 19 March 2012 with a view of the Core Strategy being submitted to the Secretary of State in September 2012 with final adoption in the spring/summer of 2013.
Waste Incinerator at Javelin Park
At the above council meeting a motion to call on Gloucestershire County Council to pause the project to built a mass burn incinerator to allow a full economic, health, and environmental impact assessment of mass burn incineration in comparison to other technological solutions and that the different in the these others are scrutinised and debated in public. This was carried without decent.
Recycling Service
It is planned from the summer of 2012 that there will be an enhanced recycling service. This will included the addition of kerb side collection of card, all plastics and batteries. The existing boxes will be used for paper and card only with 240lt wheelie bins provided for all other recycling materials. All other waste will be collected in black bags as now. There will be further consultation with town and parish councils before the new systems starts.
Car Parking Review
Charges are not to be generally introduced in Wotton, Dursley, and Nailsworth at the current time. (To be review in 18 months.). SDC intended to make all The Chipping car park short stay except a limited number of permits which will be available to residents and long term parking at a charge
